And BL20 with a strong return to the LG, doing my usual attitude in order to re-writing a classic. Next, let us take a careful look unique piece of temptation, “chocolate” it!

Super nice chocolate shape

The LG has launched a BL20 and BL40 is introduced together, either in appearance or in the system, both a certain similarity, especially from the outside looking in, BL40 atmosphere and wise, BL20 is Delicate and elegant, like a pair of two noble lovers Scorpio general, beautiful, mysterious and unique temperament.

Small beautiful LG BL20

LGBL20 is a slider phone, when the body is not drawn to the slide, the one looked a bit like a music player, as BL20 and do not give a general slide machine feels a little bit thick. According to official data, LGBL20 the measurements are 106.9mm × 50.8mm × 12.3mm, probably something like an ordinary bank card and then about 2 cm long, very wide grip suitable for Asian women. Body weight of 115 grams, so the weight is just right, no lack of feeling but not too heavy.

Machine with the feel

Not look closely, you may think that the slide part is the BL20 of the screen, it is not true, and very luxurious compared with Lasting BL40e, LGBL20e phone obviously more authentic, because the BL20 is to pass on then KG90 classic, then there is no “a touch of red” touch button and the essence of minimalist design, how it can be called the Heritage Classic? Therefore, “LG” logo, and 2.4-inch display under the touch keypad is BL20. Touch keypad to keep the last one for KG90’s “a touch of red” type of button, in the evening when the lighting is not normal to have feelings!

Mysterious bright red in color with a touch keypad

Draw the slide, you can see the big red keyboard part, BL20’s body has changed from occupied to cool blend of warm and cold colors, avant-garde feeling wells up. BL20 slide part of the design process is superb, combining a compact, not loose does not collapse, was launched not be too strong, there is no obstruction to draw assigned to a sense of the kind of flowing Xiaobian indescribable feeling, just hoping to piece Field sentence communicated to you.

LG BL20 after the draw slide

Keyboard part of the design of BL20 and no little thought, in order to control the thickness of the fuselage, BL20 keys are designed flat-style button, but will also have a button for each of the styles of crystal packing. In addition, between each row of keys have a silver stripe separated by a decorative, looks great in a texture. Meanwhile, BL20 keyboard performance in the evening is also very excellent, keyboard light brightness is moderate, not dazzling, soft but not lose brightness, white light and red touch keypad buttons in the night once again showed BL20’s fashion sense .

Keyboard looks good

Soft keyboard, but without losing the bright lights

Teaching English in Singapore: Lucrative and Rewarding Jobs Await

For too long Singapore has been dominated by its larger cousins in the global market for TEFL/ESL destinations. It is natural to head to Thailand and Vietnam, completing ignoring this inspiring compact island. No more should the Lion City just be a refuge to teachers from Thailand looking for some civilisation while on a holiday break. Lucrative TEFL/ESL opportunities exist that allow teachers to save and provide for a lifestyle teachers in Thailand and Vietnam can only dream of. Salaries are high, classes involve mostly adults, and schedules are usually done in blocks – all highly rated in any TEFL/ESL job.

Singapore has a lot to offer which other countries don’t. Firstly, in the region of South East Asia, TEFL/ESL salaries far outstrip those of neighbouring countries. Teachers can expect to start at USD 2500 a month, most likely beating the USD 3000 mark. While the cost of accommodation may seem high on this small island, other costs such as transport and food are incredibly cheap when compared to the Europe, and even the US. This provides for a very comfortable lifestyle indeed, where teachers can experience the world famous diverse cuisine, spend money travelling, and of course save.

The job search in Singapore is undeniably best done on the ground when you get there. This is convenient as Singapore is a major international flight hub, and visitors from native English speaking countries can enter freely for stays between 30 – 90 days. While arriving with nothing may worry some teachers on a shoe-string budget, it is important to remember that unlike Japan, costs are low, and the market isn’t already saturated by other English teachers in the same boat. Some jobs are advertised online, mainly on TEFL.com and ESL Cafe’s international job board. However, these may not necessarily be the best deals, and the on the ground job search allows you to negotiate an all round better deal.

Who will employ you when you get there? For an island with a population of around 4 million people, Singapore has a high density of Educational colleges and private institutes. There is a palpable feeling in the air of everyone trying to better themselves. This means business and money to the TEFL/ESL teacher. A CELTA/Trinity TESOL candidate’s best bet, like elsewhere in the world, is to contact the major private language chains; Berlitz, The British Council, Cambridge Institute, GEOS, Linguaphone, Shines Education, Wall Street Institute and many more that are dotted along Orchard Road. Job opportunities can also be had in the Straits Times online job classifieds at st701.com. The benefits of turning up on the spot are obvious; it will look like you’re in it for the long(ish) haul, you can impress with a professional appearance and demeanour, and more importantly, you can negotiate your salary with your future employer.

It will please many aspiring applicants to know that TEFL/ESL job seekers in Singapore don’t necessarily need certification in CELTA/Trinity TESOL, although it will drag down your salary. More important is having a recognised, three year degree, which the government requires for immigration purposes. Don’t let this worry you though. Obtaining the necessary Employment Pass is a very simple process, merely requiring some forms to be filled in. This can be done in Singapore and you don’t have to leave the country to complete the process at a High Commission of theirs. It may be of interest to note that if you earn above SGD 4000 a month, you don’t need to undergo a medical examination.

Who will you teach is an often underestimated question and it is very important to note that teachers are extremely unlikely to be actually teaching native Singaporeans. Having been a colony of the United Kingdom until 1963, and having English as the official language, means English is very well established there. This may not be reflected in standards of local English, but for the most part, this is dealt with by the government during a child’s education. You are far more likely to be teaching (in quantity order from my experience) mainland Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Filipino, Japanese, Thai, and even Burmese citizens. This provides for a very enjoyable experience because, more than likely, you’ll have multilingual classes to teach. Furthermore it may be exciting to note that Singapore has far less kids’ classes than the rest of Asia. Naturally, this is due to the fact that English is the language of class in state schools.

Moving on from just the aspect of work, Singapore as a destination for expats, offers a very comfortable tropical lifestyle. The weather is characterised by two distinct seasons; wet and dry, and every day is hot! The vast majority of schools will employ air conditioning though to make the teaching experience far more comfortable. Singapore is renowned for its multi-ethnic cuisine. The real joy of living there is being able to choose from Chinese, Malaysian, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and European cuisine every day. Food is incredibly cheap, with amazing outdoor (but covered!) food courts providing for a fiesta of food to brighten any day. Fresh fruit juices and exotic cut fruits at rock bottom prices will make you feel great.

Accommodation on the island is where serious thought must be considered. Occupying a relatively small island with 4 million people naturally means rents are high – far higher than neighbouring countries. The vast majority of people occupy an apartment in a block of flats. These come in two levels of quality; HDB (a form of public housing provided by the government) and condominiums (high quality private apartments, usually but not always, with shared facilities like swimming pools, gyms etc). HDB flats are generally older and of lower quality (and sometimes without air con), but are of course cheaper. Condos can be anything from satisfactory to breathtaking. Rents for HDB flats start at around SGD 800 a month, with condominiums starting at around SGD 1500. Obviously, costs depend on a lot of factors, location being a major one. My own private recommendation would be to look for a refurbished HDB flat, rather than a cheaper, lower quality condo. I would also strongly dissuade anyone from seeking an apartment around the long Geylang Road, being the red light district, as it is extremely seedy.

In terms of cultural and leisure activities Singapore has somewhat to offer. Firstly, let’s deal with the common derisory remark that Singapore is one large shopping mall. This is true to an extent, and there are very many malls. This will obviously be music to the ears of those who like shopping, and potentially nightmarish for those who don’t. Sampling new food at food courts and restaurants is a very special Singapore experience, as is exploring the different quarters; Chinese, Indian, Malay, Korean, and Thai. The centre of the island is still virgin jungle and ideal for trekking, most notably Bukit Timah and Macritichie Reservoir Park being the most authentic jungle. Beaches are OK in Singapore, but the sheer amount of large boats out in the harbour may discourage you from swimming. An array of smaller islands around it are also great for exploring; particularly Kusu, Ubin, Lazarus and haunted Hantu. The island resort of Sentosa is usually very busy and a bit overrated in my opinion for leisure and entertainment.

In conclusion, for an aspiring teacher looking for a place to start, or for an experienced one seeking a fresh start, I would strongly recommend Singapore. Reasons of income, food, and climate make this a very attractive destination for TEFL/ESL. Flexible immigration makes this a good place to make your TEFL/ESL debut, while the above factors make the city a great place to linger for a few years. Singapore offers enough of the great things about Asia while low on the downsides that make other countries harder to live in such as crime, pollution, begging/touting. So, when considering Asia as an English teaching destination, don’t rule out the Lion City.

After completing his stint there, he returned to the United Kingdom to devote his time to developing supplementary TEFL/ESL materials. In October 2009 he set up http://www.handouthub.com; a site where English teachers can subscribe to download photocopiable TEFL handouts and ESL worksheets for use in their classes.
Is Korean Language taught at any highschool?

I want to learn Korean very badly, and I have a chance to enter a persuasive essay about adding Asian languages to our schools curriculum. My main argument is the significant population of Koreans at my school, and I think it is a useful language. I need to know if other high schools even do this. I’ve heard of Chinese and rarely Japanese at a high school, but it doesn’t seem like Korean is spoken enough to be added to a high schools curriculum. Do you know if high schools teach Korean?

im sure there are a few in california I bet, with the significant korean populations there. I live in Georgia, where there is the second largest population of koreans, and we have none in this state.
but having korean people in your school prolly isn’t a good reason to have a Korean class in school…
because, most korean kids…know how to speak korean..and would only take it for an easy A or…not take it at all!

i’d come up with a more valid reason if i were you.

And if you really want to learn the language, try looking up local korean consulate and inquire a place where you can learn korean. Its a great thing to do! thats what i did (:

Choosing the right translator to translate materials

How to Find Well-Qualified Translators and Translation Services

A translator has to be flawlessly eloquent in both languages and will more often than not translate documents without the excessive use of a dictionary. It is a huge plus if she lives in the country your audience is located. She must be intimate with the issue that is translated and have admirable writing and proofing abilities in the target language.

When you have your selling material written, do you merely select any individual who speaks the language? The answer is no, if you are targeting Spain as your audience, how could you let someone from Argentina provide translation services? While the two regions converse in the same language, their backgrounds are not even similar. In the same way, your translation needs a human mind to make sure all word orders flow smoothly to a human reader. Assume you have a technical manual to be translated from English to German. If you use automatic German translation softwares that are found on the web you will end up with plenty of errors that you may not see, but a native speaker will without doubt see them and discount your German translation of technical manuals. In these cases, you may need to use German translation services.

If you can hire someone who alleges that he speaks both languages fluently, just make sure that you have a well-qualified translator. If your translator is to carry out translation services, to ensure quality you can have him translate a document first, and present the document to someone you trust to confirm it is translated correctly.

Do you regularly require professional translation services or do you need a one-time translation? If you assume that you will require translation services, then it may be a good idea to contact a professional translation services agency. The agency will find the appropriate translator, and make sure that all materials are translated correctly and in a prompt manner. Imagine that you have a document to be translated from English to Korean. Do you have the time to search for translators and make sure their translation services are of high quality? Usually, most people have no time for this and they go with a translation agency that provides Korean translation services. Ultimately, the choice is yours.

Also consider cost. The most inexpensive choice to get your translation done is doing it yourself. However, there are other costs, such as the time spent looking, and perhaps inferior quality that one should be aware of. Sacrificing quality for cost is not a good idea. Finally, In case you are wondering about certification, most translations do not need to be certified. Birth certificate translations for USCIS (immigration) do if you need to get certified translation services, you will need to look for a translation agency that offers translation services for immigration.

Effective Screen Design

“Successful screen design is based on how well the developer knows both the user and the data.”
- Bryce’s Law

INTRODUCTION

Some time ago I was working with a hospital in the Midwest who
was trying to automate some patient admission forms. Hospital
forms are notoriously complicated and voluminous (thanks to the lawyers), and this hospital was no different. This made it difficult for the hospital to gather the necessary data about a patient, their physician, and their insurance carrier. As such, they wanted to automate the forms thereby simplifying the collection of data. Unfortunately, the resulting screen designs were essentially no different than the forms. They were very busy and complicated with little editing checks. Frankly, they were no better than the forms they were trying to replace and, because of this, use of the screens were spotty at best.

Designing a computer screen is essentially no different than designing a paper form. But since most of today’s developers have little experience in forms design perhaps it is time to review some of the basic elements of good design. First, because a screen or form represents how a human being will interface with a system, we must consider the man/machine interface; its ergonomics. This means we must first understand the intended user, including his/her intelligence level and senses. Someone with a greater proficiency in using a computer will have less difficulty in using complicated screens than someone less conversant in computer technology. As to senses, there is little point in devising an elaborate color scheme if the user may be colorblind. Again, know thy intended user. For more information on ergonomics, see:

No. 65 – “What Ever Happened to Ergonomics?” – March 6, 2006
http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/ss060306.pdf

The objective, therefore, in good screen design (and forms design) is to make something that is easy to use (intuitive; requiring little interpretation and confusion) and effective for collecting data and displaying information. Although the following discussion can be applied to screens as used in some character based operating systems, it is primarily concerned with Graphical User Interfaces (GUI) as used in today’s popular operating systems.

The GUI was originally introduced with Xerox’s Star computer in the early 1980’s. Following this, several companies emulated the Star, including Apple, Microsoft, IBM, and Sun. The GUI was extremely popular as it offered an ease of use never before thought possible. The only problem was that it lacked standards, whereby one GUI implemented program did not behave in the same manner as another GUI program. Fortunately, standards started to appear in the late 1980’s with IBM’s CUA standards (Common User Access) which provided a detailed list of design standards for developing a GUI based program. (NOTE: CUA was an important part of IBM’s System Application Architecture standards – SAA). The benefit of CUA standardization was that users familiar with one GUI program could quickly be trained in how to use another GUI program, since they essentially behaved the same. Today, there are now different interpretations of the CUA standards as implemented by different computer vendors (Gee, what a surprise! Nonetheless, designing a GUI screen in accordance with accepted standards is preferred over developing of a screen without such standards.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS

Today there are some pretty slick tools to quickly build screens. Regardless of their capabilities, a developer should be cognizant of three basic design considerations: Layout, Data Entry, and Support:

A. Layout

The objective here is to make the screen “clean” and consistent. Too much detail makes the screen cluttered and abrasive to the end-user. When designing your screen, consider eye movement, eye strain and, where appropriate, add magnification. Here are some tips for consideration:

Alignment – there should be some simple symmetry to the screen. Disjointed alignment of fields, text, and images tends to alienate users. There should be a comfortable amount of spacing not only around the edge of the screen, but between sections of the screen. Because GUI windows can be resized (either maximum or to a height and width devised by the user), consider how the screen will look in either form. Borders are useful for defining sections on the screen, but be careful they do not become overbearing and distracting.

Zoning – this refers to the establishment of sections within the screen. This is useful if different types of users are going to be accessing the same screen, or if different sections serve distinctly separate purposes (thereby not confusing one with another). Borders and colors can be useful for distinguishing sections. In a GUI window, notebook tabs can be useful.

Flow – there should be an obvious flow to the screen that will naturally catch the user’s eye and prompt him/her in the proper direction. Understand this, Western countries generally observe things from left-to-right and top-down; Eastern countries observe things top-down and from left-to-right; and Middle Eastern countries observe things from right-to-left and top-down. Also understand that the tab order of the keyboard provides direction for the user. As such, the tab order on a screen should go in a logical order and not jump around meaninglessly.

Type Fonts – use common fonts familiar to users. Fancy fonts may be impressive, but will they be supported on all of the computers where the screen will be accessed from? Commonly accepted fonts include Arial, Courier, Sans Serif, and Times Roman. Devise a standard font point size; 10 is generally
agreed to be readable by the average person, but then again, will your end-user be an average person? Also, devise a standard scheme for upper-case and lower-case lettering and type styles (e.g., bold, italic); such subtleties will naturally attract the eye.

Colors can be helpful for highlighting sections, accenting required field entries, or for general appearance. Although colors can be helpful, they can also be distracting if they become overbearing. Be sensitive to color contrasts so the user can adequately read the screen. Also be cognizant of end-users who are might be colorblind.

Headings – screen headings should be placed in a standard position for easy identification by the user. A formal name and, where appropriate, a screen number should be clearly visible to the user.

Keyboard/mouse relationship – if in the event a computer mouse either breaks down or is simply not available, the user should still be able to execute the screen using simple keyboard commands. CUA standards are particularly useful in this regard.

B. Data Entry

The proper entry of data is just as important as the physical layout of the screen. Regrettably, many designers take a superficial approach to data collection and, consequently, a lot of time is spent later on cleaning up data in the data base. Considerable time can be saved with a little effort here in screen
design. Your objective, therefore, is to produce a screen that will collect “clean” data (as opposed to “dirty” data that will have to be corrected later on).

Before embarking on screen design, the developer should be intimate with the data specifications. This can be obtained either from a good data dictionary/repository, or from the physical data base design. Basically, the developer is looking for the data element’s:

Length – the maximum number of characters which may be assigned to a data element.

Class – the type of characters to be expressed; e.g, alphabetic, numeric, alphanumeric, signed numeric, etc.

Justification – the alignment of data within a field when the number of characters is less than the length of the receiving field, e.g., left, right, around the decimal point.

Fill Character – the character to be used to complete a field when the data item to be placed in the field is shorter than the maximum length, e.g., blank, zero, X, etc.

Void Character – the character to be used when a data item’s value is unknown or nonexistent, e.g., blank, zero, X, etc.

Unit of Measure – the representation of numeric data, e.g., area, volume, weight, length, time, energy rate, money, etc.

Precision – for numeric data, the number of significant digits in a number.

Scale – for numeric data, the placement of the decimal point.

Validation Rules – the specific values which the data element may assume, including default values. For example, Yes/No, specific codes or numbers to be used, editing rules, etc. This includes such things as the expression of dates:

20051211
December 11, 2005
12/11/2005
2005/12/11
11-DEC-05

Generated data – quite often it is necessary to show computations based on primary values being inputted by the user. As such, it is necessary to know the data dependencies and the formulas for calculating the generated values.

Program Label – although this will not be visible to the user inputting the data, the developer must understand how the data element is referenced in the data base.

NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO GUESS WHAT THE DATA DEFINITION IS; NOW IS THE TIME TO BE AS PRECISE AS POSSIBLE. Armed with this knowledge, the developer then determines the most suitable mechanisms for collecting the data; for GUI windows, this primarily includes such things as field entries, radio buttons, check boxes, selection lists, and text boxes. The objective here is to force the user to make correct entries as easily as possible. Some considerations:

Mandate certain field entries be completed before allowing processing to continue. This can be done by: forcing the focus of the window to the field(s) requiring entry; attaching a “hot” color to required field entries (red) and; pop-up messages to prompt the user of problem entries.

Automatically enter default values into field entries; this saves time for the user (as well as forcing proper entries). One good example of this is to have the user enter a Zip Code first, which should then automatically populate City and State entries.

Check characters entered and automatically adjust accordingly. For example, automatically upshift or downshift characters – this is particularly useful when entering State Postal Codes (upshift), and entering e-mail addresses (downshift). Also, reject certain character entries and check formats.

Make active use of selection lists, thereby forcing the user to select a choice from a prescribed list as opposed to typing an entry.

Encrypt certain sensitive entries, such as credit card numbers and passwords.

If your application is to allow Asian characters (e.g., Chinese, Japanese, or Korean), provide the ability to allow for the Double Byte Character Set (DBCS). For info, see:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/index.htm?info/dm/rbal3mst187.htm

Accommodate the expression of local units of measure, such as dates, times, money, etc. This “personalizes” the screen for the user.

Depending on the situation, provide or negate the use of the computer’s clipboard for field entries.

Where applicable, provide for data entry using voice/speech-type dictation.

Finally, format the collected data to suit the targeted physical data base.

By making data entry “foolproof” you will be saving a lot of time and effort for the end-user, the DBA, and yourself.

C. Support

To minimize user confusion, be sure to include sufficient Help text and messaging facilities into the screen. Too often I have seen screens with little support in this regards. Again, CUA standards should be observed whenever possible.

Help Text – should be provided for:

A. The screen overall – explaining its overall purpose, who should be using it, and how the data will be processed (its behavior). The Playscript language technique for writing procedures is particularly useful in this regards (see “References” below for details).

B. The various sections of the screen sections (if multiple sections).

C. Field entries – showing the name of the field entry, input specifications, along with some sample and suggested entries. If a generated value is displayed, explain how it is computed (from other field entries).

“Help” push buttons on the screen are helpful, but everything should be related to the F1 Help key, particularly field entries. Further, all screens should feature a Help action-bar-choice which includes an Index of subjects, and “About” (identifying
the name and version of the software in use).

Messages

Messages basically come in three forms: Informational (requiring no action), Warning (that a potential problem might exist), and Error (prohibiting processing). All messages should be clearly written and easy for the user to understand. For warning and error messages, do not simply report a problem to the user, but also advise him on what he should do about it. In other words, point him in the right direction and don’t leave him hanging.

CONCLUSION

Good screen design requires a developer in tune with his intended audience and who can create a simple and effective solution that is easy for the user to execute, yet promotes the collection of “clean” data. The developer must strike a careful balance between what is graphically elegant and what is practical for the user to use.

One element of design that is alluded to in this discussion is the development of universal systems whereby screens can be translated into foreign languages. There are some simple tricks for doing this. Be sure to read:

No. 03 – “Creating Universal Systems” – Dec 20, 2004
http://www.phmainstreet.com/mba/ss041220.pdf

Above all else, the developer should observe all pertinent design standards when creating screens. As mentioned earlier, users will be more likely to accept and implement new programs if their design is similar to programs they are already familiar with. The need for standardization cannot be stressed enough. To this end, some companies even go so far to devise a library of standard screen templates for developers to use. This does two things; it helps enforce design standards, and; it expedites the development of the screen. But in the end, successful screen design is based on how well the developer knows both the user and the data.

Why You Must Learn the Mandarin Language Today

Many people faced with the task of how to learn mandarin fly into a absolute panic. The symbols look so strange to none Chinese speakers, and the words sound nothing like the languages we may be accustomed to. But there are shortcuts to learning Chinese that will have even the most rookie student speaking this unique language in no time.

You can overcome the first issue – those strange-looking but beautiful symbols by separating speaking Chinese from the act of reading it. Admittedly Mandarin doesn’t use the Roman alphabet, or technically, any alphabet at all. Those symbols are called characters, and there are a lot of them. But fortunately, many English speakers learn to speak beginner Chinese without learning Chinese symbols, because Mandarin can be written in a Western alphabet called Pinyin. This greatly helps people like you not speaking Chinese with how to learn the Chinese language faster!

The second stumbling block – the sound of Mandarin words themselves can be explained by realizing that Mandarin is very dependent on pitch and tone. For example, the sound “ma” said in a high-pitched tone could mean “mother” in a different tone, it could mean “horse.” Thus, it’s very important that learners concerned with how to learn Chinese approach this mysterious language in a way that allows them to hear the words and phrases pronounced. Rocket Mandarin is a excellent language learning program for this reason; it will help you learn the Mandarin language in the quickest and most effective way and you could learn to speak basic Mandarin within 8-weeks.

When deciding how to learn Chinese, you must know which type of Chinese you need to study. There are quite a few variations of Chinese; whether these are dialects of a single language, or related but separate languages like Thai and Korean, for instance, is difficult to say. Two of the most commonly used variants of Chinese are Mandarin (the standard language of both the People’s Republic of China and Taiwan), and Cantonese (more commonly spoken in Hong Kong). But each language variant is totally unique from the others, and a Cantonese speaker cannot be understood by a someone who speaks only Mandarin.

In addition to practicing with a good audio-based program such as Rocket Chinese, it helps a lot to befriend a native speaker to chat with. This is true when learning any new language, but it’s a very important factor in how to learn Chinese. Have you ever heard someone say an unfamiliar name on the phone, and failed to understand what they were trying to say to you? This is because you can’t see the movements of their mouth as they say the words. With so many Chinese words dependent upon tone and the slightest variation of pronunciation, it helps so much to have a native Chinese speaker to watch as well as hear.

You say you don’t know any native Chinese speakers? I’ll bet you do! Is there a Chinese restaurant nearby? If its proprietors speak the variant of Chinese you want to study, make them your new best friends, because they’ll definitely will help you on how to learn Chinese! Is there a Chinese community in your area? In all likelihood, there will be Chinese people there. Look on the Internet for forums and meet-ups featuring Chinese language and culture. And as a last plan, you can learn a great deal from viewing Chinese movies.

Practice at least 30 minutes a day! You’ll never sound like a native Chinese speaker, but before you know it, you’ll be able to speak conversational Chinese with ease. And your friends will never know that only a few weeks ago, you had no idea how to converse Chinese! Finally pay a visit to http://www.ecpod.com and you can make a lot of Chinese friends to test your Mandarin.

At the onset, Venezuela’s Eva Monica Ekvall Johnson was the favorite by experts and journalists. Miss Venezuela reached the finals, but surprisingly, she only came in fourth place. Many people felt that the decision was unfair.

A Puerto Rican won the Miss Universe contest again. Like Margarita Moran (Miss Philippines and Miss Universe 1973) and Janelle Penny Commissiong (Miss Trinidad Tobago and Miss Universe), Miss Puerto Rico, Denisse Quiñones, was crowned also Miss Photogenic Universe.Denisse’s ambition was to become a professional singer.
